SHINee is the ‘Beatles of Asia!” “There hasn’t been such a fever since the Beatles.”

Japanese Sports Newspapers Highlighted SHINee’s showcase at ‘Abbey Road Studios’ in London!

K-pop fever in Europe to be introduced as well

Japanese sports newspapers highlighted ‘JAPAN DEBUT PREMIUM RECEPTION in LONDON’ which was held at ‘Abbey Road Studios’ in London on 19th and has created high expectations.

On 21st, 6 Japanese sports newspapers, including Sports Hochi, Junichi Sports, Sankei Sports, Sports Nippon, Nikkan Sports and Daily Sports published extensive reports of SHINee’s showcase held at ‘Abbey Road Studios’ in London, UK.

In particular, Sports Hochi described about 1,000 of fans waiting in front of ‘Abbey Road Studios’ by quoting from officials that “There hasn’t been such a fever since the Beatles.” And also, they gave a special meaning by explaining that “to perform at a sacred place where masters, such as Stevie Wonder and Rod Stewart, have performed is the first milestone for Asian artists. SHINee has taken the first step towards making their mark in the global music scene.” 

Moreover, by mentioning SHINee’s speech, “we wish to go down in history just like the Beatles,” and also mentioning the success of SMTOWN LIVE concert in Paris, they stated that SHINee’s popularity in London and K-pop’s popularity has been growing remarkably.

Junichi Sports reported, “SHINee is the ‘Beatles of Asia,’ first Asian artist to hold live session in Abbey Road Studios” as the newspapers’ headline article and stated that “SHINee showed full potential with their outstanding dancing and singing ability.  

In addition, Sankei Sports also delivered the news of SHINee fever in London by stating that “An enthusiasm since the Beatles,” and Sports Nippon reported “SHINee made the first step toward the global marketplace.” These broad interests of SHINee are proving how Japan has a high expectation for SHINee’s debut.

Meanwhile, SHINee will release their Japanese debut single “Replay” on June 22nd(today) and will attend “MTV Music Video Awards Japan(VMAJ)” which will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan on June 25th.

일본 스포츠 신문들이 샤이니의 일본 데뷔를 기념해, 지난 19일 (런던 현지 시간) 영국 런던 애비로드 스튜디오에서 펼쳐진 샤이니의 쇼케이스에 대해 대서 특필하며, 높은 기대감을 드러냈다.

스포츠 호치, 주니치 스포츠, 산케이 스포츠, 스포츠 닛폰, 스포츠 닛칸, 데일리 스포츠 등 일본의 6개 스포츠지는 지난 21일, 일제히 영국 런던 애비로드 스튜디오에서 펼쳐진, 샤이니의 일본 데뷔 기념 쇼케이스에 대해 집중적으로 보도했다.

스포츠 호치는 애비로드 스튜디오 앞에 운집한 1,000여 유럽 팬들의 모습은 물론 “비틀즈 이후로 이런 열기는 없었다.”는 관계자의 말을 인용, 현지의 뜨거운 열기와 샤이니의 세계적인 인기를 전했다.

또한 비틀즈의 성지이자 스티비 원더, 로드 스튜어트 같은 거장들만 했던 애비로드 스튜디오에서의 라이브는 아시아 아티스트 최초의 쾌거라며 의미를 부여하기도.

더불어 ”비틀즈 처럼 역사에 남고 싶다.”는 멤버들의 소감과 함께 세계 진출을 향한 첫 걸음을 음악의 성지에 새겼다고 전했으며, 런던 현지에서의 샤이니의 인기와 더불어 파리에서 성공을 거둔 SMTOWN LIVE 공연도 언급, K-pop의 인기가 유럽에서도 확실히 늘어나고 있다고 소개해 눈길을 끌었다.

이어 주니치 스포츠는 “샤이니는 아시아의 비틀즈, 아시아 최초 애비로드 스튜디오 라이브”라는 헤드라인으로 런던 현지 팬들의 열정적인 반응을 다루며, 샤이니가 이번 공연에서 뛰어난 댄스와 가창력으로 잠재력을 충분히 보여주었다고 평가하기도 했다.

このたび開設した「S.M.ENTERTAINMENT」専門店では、日本のネットショッピングでは初となるS.M.ENTERTAINMENT韓国公式 グッズの販売を開始する。また、現在国内で市場販売されているCDやDVDも取り揃え、アーティストの名称から商品を探すことが可能。

今後もS.M.ENTERTAINMENT社と連携を強化し、公式グッズの取り扱い拡大以外にも様々な連携を行っていく予定だという。

SHINee debuted at #2 on Oricon’s daily singles chart with their first Japanese single “Replay” on June 22nd. They also set a new record in first day shipments for a K-Pop artist, as it exceeded 120,000 copies on the first day. That is the highest figure for any K-Pop artist since Super Junior’s debut album that hit just over 100K and SNSD’s that recorded 80,000 copies for first day shipments.

“SHINee has continued to increase their fan base since debuting in 2008. They have grown into a giant group that represents K-Pop, enjoying explosive popularity all over Asia. With the release of their Japanese debut single on June 22nd, SHINee is set to take another step forward as a singer,” Oricon said in a special K-Pop article.

Meanwhile, SHINee held a live concert at the famed Abbey Road Studios in London to celebrate the release of their Japanese debut album. On June 25th, they will appear at the “MTV Music Video Awards Japan (VMAJ)” and give a live performance as well. Also, their Japanese Tour concert titled “SHINee JAPAN DEBUT PREMIUM RECEPTION TOUR,” covering Fukuoka, Kobe, Sapporo, Nagoya, and Tokyo, is expected to begin in late July, as SHINee continues to make strides in the Japanese market.
